AIIMS Mangalagiri Celebrates Graduation of New Medical Professionals

AIIMS Mangalagiri has made significant strides in medical education and healthcare delivery since its inception. The institution, which began its MBBS course in 2018 with an initial intake of 50 students, now boasts a total of 748 students, with an annual intake of 125. Recently, AIIMS Mangalagiri celebrated the graduation of 49 MBBS graduates, five MD/MS postgraduate students, and four Post-Doctoral Certificate Course students, marking a pivotal moment for the institution.

In addition to its educational achievements, AIIMS Mangalagiri has established itself as a crucial healthcare provider in the region, having completed a remarkable 31 lakh outpatient department (OPD) consultations. The hospital currently sees a daily footfall of approximately 3,500 to 4,000 patients, underscoring its importance in meeting the healthcare needs of the community.

To further enhance its medical capabilities, AIIMS Mangalagiri has recently installed a Nucleic Acid Amplification Testing (NAAT) system, which is the first of its kind among all AIIMS institutions in South India. This advanced system, which cost around ₹1.73 crore, is designed to detect viral RNA/DNA with high sensitivity, enabling early identification of infections such as HIV, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C.

Ahanthem Singh, a key figure in the institution, remarked, “The NAAT system enhances safety by significantly reducing the diagnostic window period,” highlighting the technology’s potential to improve patient outcomes.

Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Anupriya Patel, emphasized the government’s commitment to the medical sector, stating, “The Union government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is giving utmost priority to the medical sector.” This statement reflects the broader efforts to bolster healthcare infrastructure across the country.

As AIIMS Mangalagiri continues to expand its services and educational programs, observers anticipate further developments in medical technology and patient care. The institution’s growth not only signifies progress in medical education but also a commitment to addressing the health needs of the population.

With the integration of advanced testing systems and a growing number of graduates, AIIMS Mangalagiri is poised to play a vital role in shaping the future of healthcare in Andhra Pradesh and beyond.
