Badshah faces legal issues in Haryana

Indian rapper Badshah is currently embroiled in legal troubles following the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against him for his song “Tateeree.” The FIR, filed on March 6, 2026, cites violations under Section 296 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 3 and 4 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986.

The controversial song allegedly features minor girls in school uniforms throwing their school bags and running away from studies, which has sparked outrage among various groups. In response to the backlash, the Haryana Education Minister condemned the video, stating, “The depiction of school girls in the song and the manner our culture is shown in it is condemnable,” highlighting the cultural sensitivities involved.

As part of the investigation, the Haryana Police has initiated the process of issuing a Look Out Circular (LOC) against Badshah to prevent him from leaving the country. Additionally, the police are looking into whether proper permissions were obtained for using a Haryana Roadways bus in the music video.

In light of the controversy, Badshah issued a public apology, stating, “I belong to Haryana, and I had no intention to speak indecently about any woman or children.” He further expressed remorse, saying, “If anyone is hurt, I seek apology. I expect that you will forgive me by considering me the son of Haryana.”

The Haryana State Commission for Women has summoned Badshah to appear before them on March 13, as part of their inquiry into the matter. The police are also conducting raids to locate and arrest him.

In a significant move, the song has been removed from YouTube, and notices have been issued to take it down from other social media platforms. Two FIRs have been triggered by the song’s content—one naming Badshah and another against unidentified persons.

Rahul Jain, a representative from Haryana Roadways, stated, “We did not provide any bus for the shooting of the song,” indicating potential legal ramifications for the use of public property in the video.

Badshah, whose real name is Aditya Pratik Singh Sisodia, is known for his popular Haryanvi music and has a substantial following. However, this incident marks a significant turning point in his career, raising questions about the responsibilities of artists in their portrayal of sensitive subjects.

As the situation develops, Badshah is expected to appear before the police as per the formal notice issued to him. Details remain unconfirmed regarding the outcome of the investigations and any further legal actions that may arise.
