TVS Motor Company has officially launched the Orbiter V1 electric scooter on March 12, 2026, in Lucknow, India. This launch is significant as it aims to make electric mobility more accessible to a broader audience.

The Orbiter V1 is priced at ₹49,999 under the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, which allows customers to subscribe to battery usage instead of making an upfront payment. Without this model, the scooter’s price is ₹84,500.

Equipped with a 1.8 kWh battery, the Orbiter V1 offers a certified IDC range of 86 km per charge, making it a practical choice for daily commuting. Charging the scooter from 0 to 80% takes approximately two hours and 20 minutes.

In addition to its performance, the Orbiter V1 features a 34-litre under-seat storage capacity, a coloured LCD instrument cluster, and a companion mobile app for enhanced connectivity. Safety features include alerts for crashes, falls, theft, geo-fencing, and time-fencing, ensuring a secure riding experience.

The BaaS model offers monthly subscription plans starting at ₹862, making it easier for customers to manage their expenses related to electric mobility. The extended warranty for the battery under this model lasts for five years.

Gaurav Gupta, President of India 2W Business at TVS Motor Company, emphasized that the launch represents an important step in enhancing accessibility to electric mobility. Aniruddha Haldar, Senior Vice President heading the Commuter and EV Business, noted that customer feedback on the Orbiter V2 played a crucial role in the decision to introduce this more entry-level option.

This launch comes at a time when India’s electric two-wheeler market is experiencing rapid growth, indicating a shift towards sustainable transportation solutions. The Orbiter V1 is positioned as the most affordable option in the TVS electric vehicle portfolio.
