In a significant move to enhance transparency and efficiency in the evaluation process, the CBSE has adopted a new On-Screen Marking system for the first time during the Class 12 board exams in 2026. The results are anticipated to be declared on May 23, 2026, with over 18 lakh students eagerly awaiting their outcomes.
The Class 12 board examinations commenced on February 17, 2026, and are scheduled to conclude in March. To pass, students must secure a minimum of 33% marks in each subject. CBSE officials have stated that the evaluation process is progressing smoothly and efficiently, which is essential given the scale of this year’s examinations.
Results will be accessible through multiple platforms including cbse.gov.in, results.cbse.nic.in, DigiLocker, and the UMANG app. This multi-channel availability aims to facilitate easier access for students amid ongoing technological advancements.
According to Sanyam Bhardwaj, a senior official at CBSE, “My evaluation is going very perfectly, better than the previous evaluation,” indicating confidence in the new system. He also refuted claims made by certain media outlets regarding potential issues with the results process: “I refute each and every thing which has been stated in some media news portal. These are false and everything is perfectly fine.” This assurance comes as students prepare for their results.
The introduction of On-Screen Marking aligns with CBSE’s efforts to modernize its assessment methods. Historically, CBSE typically releases results approximately five to six weeks after examinations conclude. The implementation of this technology may further streamline this timeline.
Students are encouraged to download and save their results digitally via DigiLocker once they become available and collect their original mark sheets from their respective schools thereafter. Additionally, many students may begin researching colleges and completing admission forms as they await their results.
