Two separate low-intensity explosions occurred near military installations in Punjab within hours of each other, specifically outside the BSF Headquarters in Jalandhar and an Army establishment at Khasa in Amritsar. Initial investigations indicate that Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were used in both incidents.
The first explosion took place around 8 pm when a parked scooter near the BSF headquarters caught fire, while a second explosion was reported around 10:50 pm near the Khasa cantonment area. Fortunately, no casualties or major damage have been reported from these explosions.
According to sources, police and Army personnel swiftly arrived at the scenes to investigate. Bomb disposal and forensic teams were also deployed to examine the sites and gather evidence. Amritsar Rural Senior Superintendent of Police Sohail Qasim Mir noted that a tin sheet mounted on the boundary wall had been damaged and had fallen, indicating some force from the explosion.
Authorities are particularly concerned given the context of ongoing tensions in the region, which some sources link to Pakistan’s nefarious designs perpetrated by its ISI. The nature of the blasts has not been fully ascertained yet, leaving room for speculation about possible motives.
As investigations continue, teams from the National Investigation Agency are reportedly en route to assist local authorities at the blast sites. This development raises questions about security protocols surrounding military installations in Punjab and whether additional measures will be implemented following these incidents.
While officials have not confirmed specific details regarding potential suspects or further threats, the situation remains under close scrutiny by both local law enforcement and national security agencies.
