The BMW F 450 GS combines advanced rider technologies with iconic GS design, targeting a new generation of adventure riders in India. Launched after four years of anticipation marked by spy shots, this motorcycle is poised to make a significant impact in the Indian market, which has shown increasing interest in adventure motorcycles.

According to documents from BMW Motorrad, the F 450 GS is powered by a 420 cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that produces 48 hp and 43 Nm of torque. This performance specification positions it competitively within its segment. The motorcycle is available in three variants—Base, Exclusive, and Trophy—priced at ₹4.70 lakh, ₹4.90 lakh, and ₹5.30 lakh respectively.

The F 450 GS features a fuel tank capacity of 14 liters and has a kerb weight of 178 kg, making it suitable for both adventure riding and urban commuting. Its seat height stands at 845 mm, which should accommodate a wide range of riders. The motorcycle runs on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, enhancing its off-road capabilities.

This model includes a host of modern amenities such as a 6.5-inch TFT display, heated grips, and adjustable levers—features that are increasingly sought after by today’s riders. Additionally, the bike offers four distinct riding modes: Rain, Road, Enduro, and Enduro Pro, allowing riders to tailor their experience according to conditions.

The incorporation of safety features like ABS Pro and Dynamic Brake Control underscores BMW’s commitment to motorcycle safety. Furthermore, the F 450 GS boasts an Easy Ride Clutch and Shift Assistant Pro for clutchless operation—technologies that enhance rider comfort and control.

The unique crankshaft offset of 135 degrees further contributes to smoother operation, a detail that experienced riders may appreciate. Hardeep Singh Brar from BMW Motorrad remarked that “the new BMW F 450 GS is built for a new generation of adventure riders,” emphasizing the model’s intent to evolve the legacy of the GS line.

This introduction of the F 450 GS signifies not just a new product launch but potentially a shift in consumer preferences within the Indian motorcycle market. As adventure riding gains traction among enthusiasts, early reactions suggest optimism regarding this model’s reception among both seasoned riders and newcomers alike.
